Stockport Academy
Stockport Academy is a new modern academy type non-selective co-educational school within the English Academy programme, located in Cheadle Heath, Stockport, Greater Manchester, England.
A 869 pupil school catering for children between the ages of 11 and 16. The project required a stage construction and demolition of the existing Avondale High School. The school was to remain fully operational whilst the new academy was constructed on the existing and adjacent site.
The scheme had to be designed to suit the phases and sequencing of demolition and included the following:
Site plot plan
Surveys - Topographical, drainage and utilities
Utility tie-ins
Liaison with public utility companies and government agencies
Access roads and parking lots
Hardstand sports and recreation areas
Underground drainage systems for surface water and santitary
Surface water management
Sustainable urban drainage systems
Control of surface water discharge and attenuation system to a 1 in 100 storm event
MUGA sport pitch design
Hard and soft landscaping including porous pavements
