6.5 MW Solar farm

Fort Saskatchewan

A brownfield site located in Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta was chosen a pilot sustainability project for a major oil and gas client and was worked in collaboration with our client Great Canadian Solar (GCS).

The pilot project was to determine the suitability and benefits of using green energy and test the waters of sustainable projects in the oil and gas industry.

The scheme had to be designed to fit within a designated site footprint which had been used previously and located in close proximity to the ten fold larger site should the pilot project prove to be successful.

The main scope of the project was as follows:

  • Planning and site layout

  • Site surveys

  • 3D Modelling

  • Surface water management plan

  • Liaison with government agencies for planning purposes

  • Access road layout and design

  • Electrical cable trenches layout and routing

  • Upgrade of public highway perimeter drainage

  • Setting out of piles and tables

  • Site fencing with access and egress points

  • Grading and surface water management internal within the solar farm

  • Site execution support
